“My Pinocchio Syndrome for Abigail” opened at Galerie Simonne Stern in New Orleans June 2, 2001. The installation consisted of paintings in bole (clay) and gold leaf, neon, video, photobooth photos, costumes, and drawings by Taylor Mead. The show’s inspiration came from the suggestion of fellow artist Jeffrey Cook and was based on Boyd’s parents divorce and going through his years of being an apprentice. Boyd also created a poster for the exhibition which was painted by Douglas Bourgeois.
It was the overture to a ten-part opera titled “Fidelio”.
