“The Story of Bruce” was Boyd’s final installation at Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans. It opened on December 5, 2009. The exhibition was based on a book Boyd wrote in 1978 as a second-grade class assignment, titled “The Space Bunny”. Boyd rewrote the story in high school with a new focus on environmental disasters from toxic chemicals. Also inspired by Heavy Metal magazine, Boyd wanted to create an erotic tale of Bruce. The exhibition included sculptures, watercolor paintings, and a timeline of Boyd’s history with the rabbit image.
