“Sneewittchen” opened at Arthur Roger Gallery on December 6, 2003 in New Orleans. The title refers to the German name for Snow White, a recurring figure in the show. The installation consisted of bole (clay) paintings embellished with gold leaf, Chateauneuf-du-Pape wine, and the artist’s blood; costume; and a wedding cake. The show was inspired by a premonition that Boyd had in 1995 that he would spend his life with a woman he watched a Star Wars film with in a theater. He photographed a model that was used for staining Snow White paintings, representing his grandmother, Frida Boyd. The exhibition was meant to be the Overture of a ten-part visual opera titled “Romantika.”
