The “Billy Name” photobooth project was Boyd’s second major photobooth project. Billy Name is the stage name for William Linich, who was part of Warhol’s Silver Factory. He was the Factory manager and the only person to live at the Factory. Expanding on his previous project, “Taylor Mead,” Boyd costumed Name as bearded pop characters, with an emphasis on Andy Warhol’s subjects and films. With a larger budget, Boyd was able to rent more elaborate costumes for Name. The project was shot in a photobooth at the K-Mart in Slidell, Louisiana in March and April, 1996. There are around 650 strips included in the series.
